After the highs and lows of Blast Off Weekend, May 16th was a night our team will never forget.
Following the heavy crash the week before, Dad and Anthony spent countless late nights in the garage — often working into the early morning hours — determined to get the #18 back on the track. Just making it back to the New London-Waterford Speedbowl felt like a victory for our team.
Then came the heat race.
Anthony drove a smart, focused race and captured his first-ever SK Light heat race win — an unforgettable moment for our family and team. After all the hard work, frustration, and long nights rebuilding the car, seeing the #18 cross the line first was honestly mind blowing.
The heat win earned Anthony a P5 starting spot for the feature, but the feature itself turned into another wild night at the track. With yellow flags flying, wreckers hauling cars off, and the GoPros working overtime capturing the chaos, the race often felt more like bumper cars than racing.
Through it all, Anthony stayed calm, kept his head on a swivel, dodged multiple incidents, and stayed focused on finishing the race. A little luck was finally on our side, and the team brought home a solid 7th place finish.
Most importantly, after the disappointment of Blast Off Weekend, the #18 team proved something to ourselves: we don’t quit.
