.021 Seconds: Every Position Matters

Race days have a way of reminding you that sometimes the smallest moments can mean the most.

Saturday started exactly the way we hoped. We arrived at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl early and were one of the first teams setting up. We knew we had extra work ahead of us with three tires to buy and mount, but Anthony came to the track with a plan for the day—and the team executed it flawlessly.

We also had something extra special in the pits: family and friends, including some who drove all the way from Maryland to spend race day with us.

They got a firsthand look at just how busy a race day can be. There is a lot more happening behind the scenes than the few minutes you see when the cars are on the track—practice, adjustments, tires, the heat race, more adjustments and, this week, a 40-lap feature—double Anthony's usual race distance.

And Anthony gave everyone something to cheer about right away.

Starting the Night With a Win

Anthony won his heat race, adding another trophy to his second season in the SK Light and getting the night off to a great start.

Family and Friends make it Special!

Having so many people there to share it with him made the win even more special.

Of course, no Raccio Racing race day is complete without trailer food.

This week's menu did not disappoint. Paella and brownies were a huge hit, and our crew of family and friends was well-fed and ready for the 40-lap feature.

From Fifth to the Back—and Back Again

Anthony started the feature in fifth, but racing rarely follows the plan on paper.

He got shuffled toward the back of the field, and from there the job became simple: stay smart, keep the car clean and start working his way back.

Over 40 laps, there was plenty to avoid.

Anthony made it through a three-car crash and several spinouts happening around him. Each time, he kept going and kept fighting for positions.

By the closing laps, he had worked his way back into a battle for a top-ten finish.

And when they crossed the line, it came down to this:

0.021 seconds.

That was the margin that gave Anthony 10th place.

After getting shuffled to the back, he fought his way back to a top-ten finish—by just 0.021 seconds.

That final battle all the way to the stripe was a pretty good reminder of something racing teaches over and over:

Every position matters. Every lap matters. And sometimes, every thousandth of a second matters.

A Trophy for Someone Who Helps Make It Happen

After the heat win, Anthony knew exactly where he wanted that trophy to go.

He gave it to Matt, who has been a core part of our crew almost from the time we started racing.

Matt knows the routine. He knows what needs to happen when the trailer opens at the track, what needs attention between practice and the heat, and what has to get done before Anthony heads back onto the track. Race days move fast, and we simply couldn't get all of the work done without him.

So when Anthony handed Matt the heat-race trophy, it felt appropriate. That trophy may have Anthony's win attached to it, but it represents the work of the people who help put him in a position to compete every week.

Anthony gave it to Matt with complete confidence that there will be more trophies on the way.

We love his optimism—and after watching how hard this team works together, we wouldn't expect anything less.

More Than the Racing

One of our favorite parts of race day is sharing it with the people who support Anthony.

We couldn't do what we do without our sponsors, crew, family and friends. And we genuinely love having visitors come to the track and become part of our team for the day.

This weekend was a perfect example. Some traveled hours to be there, and they didn't just watch a race. They spent the day in the pits, saw the work that happens between every trip onto the track, ate with us, celebrated with us and got to experience what a Raccio Racing Saturday really looks like.

It makes these moments even more special.

Racing takes a lot of hard work and perseverance. Getting to share the wins—whether it's a heat-race trophy, avoiding a wreck, fighting your way back through the field or beating someone to the line by 0.021 seconds—makes all of it that much better.

Thank you to every sponsor who makes this possible, and to every crew member, family member, friend and supporter who shares these race days with us.

A heat-race win. A hard-fought top ten. Forty laps. And 0.021 seconds that made every bit of the fight back worth it.

Not a bad Saturday night. 🏁
