We were also happy to have Kyle with us in the pits. Kyle and Anthony have been friends since their quarter midget days, and whenever he's at Waterford, he's always ready to jump in and help. He knows our race-day routine, is always willing to lend a hand, and proudly continues his unofficial role as our Junior Pit Crew Member...with one eye on the race car and the other on the candy bin. 🍬😄
The day began with two practice sessions as we worked to dial in the car. After the first practice, we made a few adjustments that improved the handling for the heat race. Before the feature, we made another round of changes that we believe would have worked even better if the track temperature had remained the same as it was before the sun went down.
Anthony started on the pole for both the heat race and the feature. He drove a smooth, consistent heat race, bringing the car home in third place and earning the opportunity to drive through tech.
Starting from the pole in the feature, Anthony held a top spot for about six laps. Once the first pass was made, a line of cars was able to follow through, and he ultimately crossed the finish line in 11th place.
While we'd always like to finish a little farther forward, the biggest takeaway from the night was clean racing. The car came home in one piece, we gathered valuable information that will help us continue improving the setup, and everyone left the track smiling after spending another great evening together.
As always, thank you to our family, friends, sponsors, crew, and everyone who continues to cheer on Raccio Racing. Your support means the world to us, and every race is another opportunity to learn, improve, and make memories with the people who make this journey so special. We'll see you next Saturday at the Speedbowl!
