The June 6th SK Light feature was shaping up to be another solid night of racing for Anthony until the final lap reminded everyone how quickly things can change in racing.
Coming through the last turn on the last lap, an incident ahead sent cars off the racing surface, creating a cloud of dust that made it difficult for drivers to see and left little time to react. A spinning car moved up the track, and Anthony drove high against the wall in an attempt to avoid it. Unfortunately, as the car continued to rotate across the racing surface, Anthony was unable to avoid contact and struck the rear of the car.
Anthony was able to continue and take the checkered flag, but the other driver was unable to finish the race.
While nobody wants to see a race end that way, incidents like this are a reminder of how quickly circumstances can change when drivers are making split-second decisions at speed.
Most importantly, we wish the other driver a full and speedy recovery.
Thank you to our sponsors, supporters, family, and friends for their continued support. Racing brings great moments and difficult moments, and we're thankful to be part of a community that comes together when it matters most.
We'll regroup, get ready for the next race, and keep moving forward.
